I am planning on racing the Tour Divide. There. I said it. It's a scary thought, but at the same time, I can hardly wait.

What is the Tour Divide? It's a 2800 mile single stage mountain bike race from Banff, Canada to Antelope Wells, NM on the U.S.-Mexico border. The race is unsupported so I'm on my own for everything. If that wasn't enough, there's 200,000 feet of climbing too.

While I have been cycling forever, I am new to bikepacking. This blog is intended to document my learning and experiences with the hope of helping others as they dive head first into this amazing world.

I have spent much of the past 15 years racing mountain bikes. Over the past three years I discovered this crazy thing called training and have suddenly found new fitness and race results to match.

I most recently completed my first season racing Cat 1 single speed finishing second overall in the local Fat Tire Revolution series.

I've fantasized about doing the Tour Divide Race since I first head about it, but always considered it well out of my reach. However, with my new fitness, I have decided now is the time to push myself and take on this life-changing adventure.
